Colusa Circle 5th Annual 5K

We wanted to express our gratitude to all the participants, volunteers, and prize sponsors who made our 5th annual Colusa Circle 5K a huge success! For this year's beneficiary, ZCEB chose KIDS for the BAY, an organization that has been connecting children with nature, turning children on to science, and inspiring environmental action for 30 years. More than 150 runners partipated, and Zip Code East Bay matched every dollar raised for a total of $7,500 for KIDS for the BAY. The funds from this year's race will support KIDS for the BAY’s environmental education programs for under-resourced elementary schools here in the East Bay.

At the event, participants warmed up with a dynamic stretch led by the Fuse Fitness. Good Guest Kensington led a land acknowledgement, recognizing that we are on Indiginous land. Before the countdown, we got pumped with motivation by Tony Mayfield on the drums, and then the participants were off!

With the help of our community, we had 156 registered runners, 14 volunteers, and 11 local businesses donating goods and services. We want to extend a huge thank you to our prize and raffle sponsors, which included Benchmark Pizzeria, Freshly Cut Florist, Jenny K, Well Grounded, Nubo Spa, OrangeTheory Solano, Semifreddi’s, Sports Basement, Los Moles, Nations, and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. A huge thanks to the Kensington Farmers' Market, who provided their tables and tents; the Kensington Police Department, who directed traffic around Colusa Circle and ensured a safe event for all; and the Kensington Fire Department, who brought a fire engine for kids to check out in person. This year we were also joined by Babo's Concept Kitchen, Kaveri Coffee and Swelter Coffee, three women-owned businesses who showcased their incredible beverages and other delicious offerings.

Not only did we exceed our participation number from last year, but we also received more donated shoes and new socks for donation to the organization B.O.S.S.

Again, thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and cheered. We had so much fun, and we cant wait to see you all next year!
