Zip Code East Bay Creates New Charity 5K Race and Donates All Proceeds to Giveback Homes

KENSINGTON, CA, March 21, 2018 -- Zip Code East Bay, a boutique real estate practice in the San Francisco East Bay, planned and sponsored a grassroots charity 5K race on St. Patrick’s Day in Kensington and El Cerrito

“Last year, we ran a community-organized 5K with our 7-year-old son in Sonoma, and it was a fantastic experience for us as a family,” says Zip Code East Bay Owner and Broker Josh Dickinson. “We wanted to share this experience with our friends and neighbors here in the East Bay and raise money for a great cause.”

Zip Code East Bay is committed to building community through real estate and is a Giveback Homes brokerage partner. Josh became the first Giveback Homes member in the East Bay when he joined in 2014.

Their East Bay community showed enormous support for the family-friendly event, with 138 registered runners, 23 volunteers, and 12 businesses donating their services or goods. The event raised more than $4000, and Zip Code East Bay is collecting and matching additional donations to reach the $6000 goal of funding a Build Day for a Berkeley family in need. In addition to planning and sponsoring the race, the team at Zip Code East Bay will spend an additional day volunteering their time to help rehabilitate the Berkeley home.

The homeowner is a 76-year-old Army Veteran who has owned his Berkeley home for nearly 40 years. He supports an extended family and has been unable to make the home repairs needed to meet regulations and to safely and comfortably house his family. With funding from the City of Berkeley's Senior and Disabled Home Rehabilitation Loan Program and a personal loan, the homeowner will be able to remain in the community where his roots are planted.
