UPCOMING EVENTS:

Good Guest Kensington Lunch & Learn: September 8th, 12-1:30

Kensington lies on the ancestral and present-day homeland of the Lisjan Nation people. In light of this fact, how can Kensington residents live here in a good way, particularly if we are relative newcomers to this land? Good Guest Kensington invites our neighbors and friends of all backgrounds to gather together to explore this question through sharing history, learning about current events and envisioning what the future can hold.

Please join Good Guest Kensington on Sunday, September 8th from 12-1:30 pm at Zip Code East Bay, 388 Colusa Ave. We’ll eat and hang out from 12-12:30, then learn and discuss 12:30-1:30. Bring sustenance from home or grab a treat from the Kensington Farmers' Market to enjoy in a casual setting while learning, discussing and being in community.

RSVP appreciated but not required. Questions? Want to get our email newsletter? Email goodguestkensington@gmail.com and/or check out our website at goodguestkensington.org.

Good Guest Kensington, founded in 2021, is a volunteer group of Kensington residents that works toward a future where the town of Kensington—its residents, business owners, schools, community groups and governing bodies—is living in right relationship with the Lisjan Nation people.

5TH ANNUAL COLUSA CIRCLE 5K
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 5th annual Colusa Circle 5K! It was wonderful to see you all in Colusa Circle this year for our annual fun run for a charitable cause!

We registered 157 runners, and Zip Code East Bay matched every dollar raised for a total of $7,500 for KIDS for the BAY, an organization that has been connecting children with nature, turning children on to science, and inspiring environmental action for 30 years. The funds that we raised at this year's race will support KIDS for the BAY’s environmental education programs for under-resourced elementary schools here in the East Bay. We also collected used running shoes and new socks for BOSS “Building Opportunities for Self Sufficiency”.

From all of us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. We look forward to next year!

4TH ANNUAL COLUSA CIRCLE 5K
Thanks to everyone who attended the fourth annual Colusa Circle 5K! This year's race beneficiary was Sogorea Te' Land Trust, an urban Indigenous women-led land trust that facilitates the return of Indigenous land to Indigenous people. With more than 120 registered runners, event registrations totaled $3,000, which ZCEB matched dollar-for-dollar for a total of $6,000 for Sogorea Te’ Land Trust. The funds raised will contribute to their Rematriate the Land Fund, which supports growing medicine gardens, creating emergency response hubs, and distributing fresh food to elders, among many other important initiatives. 3RD ANNUAL (VIRTUAL) COLUSA CIRCLE 5K:

Due to COVID restrictions, this year's 3rd Annual Colusa Circle 5k was a virtual race, which raised $2500 for this year's race beneficiary Urban Tilth.

Urban Tilth hires and trains local residents to cultivate agriculture in west Contra Costa County to help our community build a more sustainable, healthy, and just food system. They use 7 school and community gardens and small urban farms to teach and employ community members to grow, distribute, cook, and consume thousands of pounds of local produce each year, to create a more equitable and just food system within a healthier and more self-sufficient community.
